Recipe: Fruit of the Vine Sirloin

  • 3 cups egg noodles
  • 1 lb. sirloin steak ( 1" thick)
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • butter
  • 1/2 cup port
  • 1/4 cup minced shallots
  • 1 tsp. chopped garlic
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tblsp. fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 tblsp. Dijon mustard


Cook noodles and keep warm, heat non-stick skillet
on medium-high heat. Sprinkle both sides of sirloin
with salt and pepper. Lightly coat sirloin w/melted
butter. Put in skillet and cook for 4 min. each side.
Put on platter and keep warm.
Add port to skillet and stir in shallots and chopped
garlic. Cook for 45 seconds stirring frequently. Add
beef broth and bring to boil.Remove from heat. Add
mustard and thyme and stir with whisk.
Cut sirloin diagonally across grain into slices. Serve
sirloin and sauce with pasta.
